What are members?

This is the total number of people that can be signed into HipChat at once. You are allowed to have more people in your group, but they can’t all chat at the same time.

What is the storage for?

The images, documents, and files shared by your team in rooms or one-on-one chats.

What is chat history?

The Basic plan lets you search and browse the past 30 days of conversations and files. Plus, Premium, and Ultimate plans give you unlimited access to your chat history.

What are private rooms?

Private rooms can only be seen and accessed by members that have been invited by the room's creator. No one else can see that a private room even exists.

What are SMS used for?

Members can send and receive chat messages on their mobile phone via SMS. One credit is used per message received or sent. Credits reset each month.

How does the 30 day free trial work?

Go ahead, kick the tires. You have full-featured HipChat for 30 days. We know you'll love it, that's why we don't ask for your credit card up front. After 30 days you'll need to upgrade to a paying account to keep using HipChat. If you don't upgrade, your account and data will be deleted after 90 days.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Once you cancel your account, you'll be responsible for charges incurred that month, but you won't be charged again.

Do I have to sign a long-term contract?

Nope. You'll be charged monthly and you can cancel or change plans anytime. If you cancel, you'll only be charged for the current month. You won't be charged again after that.

Are the prices per user?

Nope. They’re the monthly cost for your entire group.

Who can see our chats and files? Do you read them?

Your team's privacy and security is our #1 priority. We've taken measures to make sure no one outside of your team can access your chats and files. Of course, we will not view your team/company data.

Is HipChat secure?

We take security seriously. Only people you've invited can access your chat history and files. All plans use SSL encryption to protect your data.

Can I change plans at any time?

Of course. When you upgrade, you will be charged for the rest of the month. You'll be charged the new monthly fee on the pay period after you plan changes.
